THE HOTEL:
Lately I have been living it up and I am enjoying every second of it!
My friend Lara Jade and I had a lovely over night ‘girly’ stay at the very hip and luxurious Montcalm Hotel.
Situated right near Marble Arch in London, Montcalm is a boutique, 143 roomed with 17 suites, 5 * hotel that is perfect for a bit of relaxing and pampering in style!

Foyer
Montcalm’s Foyer is beautiful with stunning glass features hanging from the roof and gorgeous arm chairs that are begging to be sat on whilst enjoying a coffee or glass of wine.
Sometimes in 5* hotels, they can tend to feel a bit ‘pompous’ and uncomfortable. Lara and I noted that the Montcalm had a great vibe, perhaps because it is a fairly small sized hotel and you have a lot of staff running around to make things run smoothly.
Montcalm offer lots of different packages that you can choose from.
We chose the Montcalm Ladies Pamper Package which included:
We were treated very well as soon as we arrived and the staff at Montcalm really are exceptional, with nothing being too much trouble for them.
Our room was about four sizes bigger than the room in this photo as we were given the ‘Wow Suite’. I know why it was called the Wow Suite, it speaks for it self! It was more like an apartment with a massive room for the bed and an extra room with a sofa bed, huge TV and another shower!
The bed was a four poster and had lovely luxurious and soft pillows, warm duvet and high quality linen and sleeping on it was just a dream. I actually don’t really like staying away from home, I usually find that no other bed is as comfortable as mine at home and tend to have difficulty sleeping in hotels.
I had a fantastic night’s sleep woke up very refreshed. Normally for me, staying in a hotel means I have zero sleep and more often than not, my usual trip away is not very good because I am so very tired.
The bathrooms (we had two!) were amazing. One had a huge bath with a glass wall that had an electric blind that you could lift up or keep closed and both bathrooms had state of the art taps and shower heads. My husband would have loved it as he enjoys all that kind of stuff! Lara and I were impressed with the coloured LED lights that made the bathroom and shower light up when you used the taps or shower.

THE FOOD:
We had an incredible dinner at the Hotel’s restaurant, Vetro, run by Sardinian born Executive Chef Paolo Saba who cooked up some incredible dishes. I chose to have some salad and pasta (yes I do eat cooked food now and then) and it was just heaven. He makes authentic Italian style dishes and everything was just out of this world. Paolo’s brother was our waiter and I don’t think I have ever met anyone that is so passionate about food. Turns out, lots of the ingredients and even balsamic vinegar (which was 30 years old by the way!!) was produced by the brother’s family farm back in Sardinia.
The desserts were sensational! I tried really hard to say no but I just couldn’t, and really, what sort of a reviewer would I be if I didn’t taste things?! The tasting plate that we had with a selection of things like panna cotta, chocolate fondant pudding, sorbets and a few other things were just out of this world. We also were given some dessert wine that went very well with the selection of chocolates the chef presented to us.
The food was so decadent, real ‘melt in your mouth’ treats and made even more enjoyable because of the attention and care from the wait staff.
There is something very special about Italian food, alot of care and love goes into it. Its almost like a bit of a show really, with the waiter explaining how things were made and getting us excited about what we were about to eat.
The Restaurant at Montcalm is worth a visit even if you are just looking for a night out in London.
We also had breakfast in our room as we are not really good early risers and it was really enjoyable to eat in our huge suite.
Normally breakfast is served in the restaurant which would be lovely also, if you can drag yourself away from those super comfy beds.

The Couples Treatment room
THE SPA:
After our fabulous nights sleep and yummy breakfast (huge list of things to choose from on the room service menu, some healthy some not) we went to visit the Montcalm Spa!
On the lower ground floor the Spa has a clinical atmosphere, with its white decor and spotlessly clean surroundings. We were there for a one hours aromatherapy full body massage.
We were able to have our massage in the same room together which made it that much more enjoyable. It’s lovely to share things like this with your girlfriends and I do hope to do this more often.
My therapist Maria, has trained all over the world and was a fabulous therapist. Her hands are a gift from God!
The massage included a long scalp massage, foot massage and facial massage too. The entire body was relaxed and really gave my circulation a boost to get going.
I would easily go back and see Maria again, even if I didn’t stay there. She was fantastic! The Wellness centre offers many different types of treatments. I loved the sound of their Chocolate massage!
After our massages, Lara and I were able to use the spa facilities which included: steam and sauna, jacuzzi, exercise pool and rainwater shower. There is a relaxation area complete with magazines, water and fresh towels. There also is an area to change into your robes and lock away your valuables.
It is truly lovely to not have to rush off after a massage, to sit and read a magazine and have a chat without feeling like you were being hurried out.
You can use the spa even if you do not book in for a treatment and its open from 7am till 11pm.
The Spa uses some Elemis products in the washrooms and LI’TYA during the treatments, which is a 98.5% natural range with mostly organic ingredients, inspired by ancient Australian indigenous healing modalities and use the purest native plant, flower and fruit ingredients. I wished that I had gotten to try this line out, I had no idea it was an organic brand! LI’TYA is an aboriginal product, so close to my heart as I am from Australia myself and have always been fascinated by the Aboriginal people – they are some of the most spiritually aware people in the world and we can learn a lot from them.
Carita is another skincare brand that is used in the Montcalm Spa and is known for including luxury ingredients such as Mother of Pearl, Gold and Diamond. They also use exclusive Pro-Lift technology (a machine) to offer a remarkable lift to the contours of the face.
None of these ranges has been tested on animals
They also have a mini gym on the premises as well and on Level 6 there is a business club with free drinks throughout the day.
Montcalm is fabulous for business people yet I also think it is be nice to take a girlfriend with you like I did for some fun away from home.

Barre Noire
THE BAR:
Barre Noire is Montcalms uber trendy, yet cosy bar. We had a little session in their the night before and tried the Tulip Martini drinks. Delicious! Quite potent! The drinks menu is pages and pages long and you could really let loose being in there! We behaved our selves and had one drink.
The Montcalm has some wonderful packages that include different things so if you are thinking of doing something nice for Valentines day coming up, then take a visit to their website to check out if anything interests you.
Even though I live in London, I really felt like I had been away and did have a lot of fun.
Its a fabulous location and perfect for shopping if you wanted to come to London to do a bit of just that!
Staying at the Montcalm is not cheap but what luxury place is? Should it be? No…..because then it wouldn’t be luxurious would it?
Sometimes we do deserve to treat ourselves!
