Here is my theory why: Cotton is one of the most HEAVILY sprayed crops with pesticides and fungicides. It literally is an extremely toxic and dirty crop. Throughout one growing cycle, there is sometimes up to 40 different chemicals sprayed onto the cotton. Each and every chemical is labeled toxic and dangerous on the container it comes on. Pesticides and Fungicides have been directly linked to many cancers and other horrible diseases, this is a FACT.
If you are to use non-organic cotton tampons and pads (with tampons being the worst by far because that is right inside your body!) for many many years, then each time of the month for those few days. You are literally sticking toxic poisons into your most private parts! Your body is ABSORBING this, however minute it may be on that day.
If you continue to do this for years and years, then I think it makes sense to assume that this is putting you at serious risk of problems.
I realise that Cervical cancer has been linked to sexual activity at a young age, but I am putting this idea out there, that using these toxic sanitary products, could be making that risk higher!
I stopped using normal tampons years ago and have been buying Natracare products for a long time. They are fantastic and most importantly, SAFE to use.

The California EPA reported that only15 chemicals accounted for 77% of the pesticides used on cotton from 1989 to 1998 and that these were some of the most toxic chemicals in the world. Cal EPA and US EPA analyses illustrate that seven of these fifteen most used cotton chemicals were probable cancer-causing pesticides, eight caused tumors and five caused mutations. Twelve of the top fifteen cotton pesticides in California caused birth defects, ten caused multiple birth defects, and thirteen were toxic or very toxic to fish or birds or both.
* On the average, seven times as many pounds of toxic fertilizer are regularly used on cotton as are pesticides. Cotton fertilizers have fouled the air and polluted rivers, groundwater basins and aquifers wherever cotton is grown.
* Cotton fertilizers and pesticides have killed and injured millions of fish, birds, and other wildlife as well as countless thousands of rural residents.
* 75% of the cotton and cottonseed in the US is genetically modified.
Cotton is really a terrible product we need to start demanding to use organic cotton.
Not only is it better for us, but it is safer for the poor farmers who are most often than not, working in very terrible conditions in very hot countries. Many people have died from the exposure to the chemicals used on the crops. You will want to fall off your chair when you hear how many……..it is 250,000 per YEAR.
It is also causing a massive environmental impact. So much water is used, children are being used to produce it and of course the chemicals are going into the environment as well.
So if this doesnt make you realise how serious it is to avoid using normal cotton hygiene products, then I have no idea what will shock you into doing whats right for your own health.
