‘Is Water just Water’ by Roddy McDonald

Most people including the majority of healthcare workers think that all water is the same and has the same effect on the body. In fact many people believe that you can hydrate the body with any fluid and it will all have the same effect as water, a concept that Dr Batmanglelidj, author of several books on water described as being the mistake that is background to all health problems in our society at present.

Water is a much more complex substance than superficially we think it is, and the quality and the characteristics of the water we drink can have a significant bearing on the quality of our health. Our bodies are composed of approximately 70% water so it is vitally important that we give it the quality of water it needs to function optimally.

Is purity of water all we need be concerned about?

Most people accept that the purity of water is important and that is why many people choose to drink bottled water believing it to have less contaminants in it than tap water. Recent concerns, particularly in the US, as to trace levels of drug residues and hormones in the water has only served to heighten this concern.

However ‘purity’ of water is only one area of concern, other aspects of water quality need consideration. For the last 50 years the Japanese have been researching and benefiting from alkaline antioxidant water. This type of water is gaining wide acceptance in North America and its benefits are slowly being appreciated in Europe. Alkaline antioxidant water – often referred to as alkaline ionized water – has 3 particular attributes that make it quite different from ordinary tap water or bottled water. Firstly it is more alkaline which helps to neutralise the adverse effects of excess acidity in the body and helps increase oxygenation of the tissues. Secondly it has antioxidant properties, which means it has the capability to neutralise harmful free radicals. Thirdly it has a smaller number of water molecules in a cluster than ordinary water meaning that it is able to hydrate the body much more effectively.

Alkaline Antioxidant Water and its Health Benefits

The cumulative effects of these three characteristics of alkaline antioxidant water are what makes a difference in many people’s health. In Japan and Korea in particular they have been researching its benefits to treat degenerative disease and in particular for diabetes, cancers and hypertension with encouraging results. In fact it has benefits for anyone who is suffering the effects of tissue acidity or free radical damage.

It used to be that you could only produce alkaline antioxidant water with an expensive electronic ionizer. However recent developments in technology, using special natural minerals has brought the benefits within the financial reach of everyone. Now you can get this health giving water for a fraction of the price of bottled water. Not only are you helping to improve your health you are making a valuable contribution towards reducing plastic waste.

The cheapest thing that everyone can do to improve health.

Alkaline Jug filters and personal water ionizers like the Alkapod are within everyones price range. The alkaline jug filter looks similar to your traditional jug filters but in operation it is very different. Your traditional filters leave the water acidic after filtration, which is not what you need to help to promote better body pH balance.

To the majority of people who have been brought up with the belief that the only way to address a disease is to use a drug the concept of drinking water to improve health is pretty unbelievable. While the majority are cynical of its capability a growing minority are quietly enjoying the benefits. With modern diets, high stress levels and environmental pollution all adding to the acid burden on the body then drinking alkaline ionized water is the simplest thing that everyone can do to reduce the harmful effects of modern lifestyles.

Dr Batmanghelidj, an enlightened highly qualified medical doctor, wrote several books on the therapeutic benefits of water based on his research and client histories. His work was probably ahead of his time, although it should not have been, but gradually the importance of what he was saying is reaching to more and more people. His last book ‘Obesity, Cancer and Depression – How Water can cure these deadly diseases’ is probably his best work and shows the direct connection between dehydration and these diseases.

Drinking alkaline antioxidant water is the simplest, cheapest thing that everyone can do to increase their energy levels, improve immunity and slow down the aging process. Its widespread use would greatly enhance the health of the nation with a consequent dramatic reduction in health care costs.
