Published in 2004 - ‘MUMPS HITS UNIVERSITIES’, scream the headlines as universities set up mass vaccination programmes  advising students to have the MMR jab as an epidemic of mumps threatens to sweep through campuses  across the country. Figures from the Health Protection Agency show an increase in mumps from about  1,500 for all age groups in 2003 to almost 2,000 cases in only the first six months of this year.   We are told that most cases of mumps are among people in their very late teens and early 20s who have  not been vaccinated with the MMR and are therefore vulnerable to infection (1)

When your child is sick, often you don't know what to do, and will rush off to the doctors to get an opinion on what is wrong. If it's an emergency then fine but what if its something relatively simple like a cold? Rather than giving your child pharmaceuticals (even if prescribed for children its still a drug) you can try these simple measures to help get your child back to good health again. It’s great to be a kid. All of life’s most pressing, earth-shattering decisions – like who gets to play shortstop – can be made with a simple flick of the wrist or toss of a coin. No board meetings or conference calls – unless of course you consider congregating on a see-saw a ‘board’ meeting, or talking into tin cans connected by string a conference call. Much of Western Medicine is based on ‘The Germ Theory of Disease’. According to ‘The Germ Theory of Disease’: you meet a bacterium or virus and you catch the disease, unless you have had it before and you are immune. But if this were true, then everyone on a bus which was carrying someone with ‘flu would catch the ‘flu, but they don’t. Why not? - Not because they have antibodies to the ‘flu - the ‘flu virus changes every year, that is reason people are vaccinated annually against the ‘flu. No, the only people who ‘catch’ the ‘flu are those who are prone or susceptible to catching it. What is the difference between proneness and susceptibility? I regard susceptibility as the positive ability to acquire infectious diseases as a way of supporting health.

Even if you live in the city and are not out and about in the open countryside on a regular basis, urban pollution and grime combined with cold biting winds and frosts all take their toll on our skin. Imagine being a baby in a buggy, down at street curb level, with diesel fumes and traffic swishing through filthy puddles, and add in a fine drizzle of rain from our polluted skies – and we’re sure you’ll agree it’s never been more important to weather proof our children’s skin.

I have been using the entire baby range on  Lola and this product in particular is just brilliant.  I have used it on myself as well (we have baths together) and its very effective even on my own hair and skin. So gentle and long lasting. Cleans skin but leaves the protective barrier of the skin intact - non drying which is super important for a babies skin and scalp (and mine too!) the scent is just stunning. I can't imagine a better product to wash a baby in!
